Change? Its in our hands

i have often wondered
what happens to a media story
after it has been published, splashed and autopsied
across all news channels...

Another new one comes along
the previous one is forgotten and excreted
from the memories of our mind
and lo and behold we have a new one on our panels...

the game is all of TRP's
and eyeballs that they are fighting for
rubbishing the Indian-ness that this
country was once known for...

love thy neighbor we were told
help those in need we were taught
but now all i see is a blind eye to someones need
this fake attitude is what i abhor...

"nothing can happen to this country"
"disgusting way of working of the machinery"
"corruption corruption everywhere"
who will bring the change i ponder...

politicians? no way
they aren't anymore the leaders
business houses? frankly my dear
they dont give a damn, for about their own future they wonder...

there is friction being created
over domiciles and state-hoods
progress be damned
i am only interested in my vote bank...

earlier i had five years
that was when my party had majority
today its coalition times
bhidu
its to each his own and i need water and masala for my own fish tank...

gandhi, patel, azad, and ambedkar
a saddened lot they'd all be
to see what is happening
to the nation for which they did dream...

those dreams have come to naught
who cares for the country now
its power power and more power
and full coffers is all what they scheme...

they said the judiciary was above all
well with the scams that their honors are in
where do we look, who do we holler
our voices are going hoarse and our frustrations stronger...

but are we putting the nation first
who's bothered about the legacy we leave behind
with the ctc's going northwards
the rat races are just getting longer...

someones got to pick up the cudgels
somethings got to give i still believe
i remember the tales of kalki
will he be the one, the savior...

hell no..there is a kalki in each one of us
we have the power to change
if obama could we could too-vote is what we all need to do
only then can we hope for a change in the Indian demeanor...
